The Lake District National Park in the north-west of England is the largest of England’s National Parks. Its 2,292 square kilometres cover high fells, lush green dales, still lakes, vibrant villages and quiet hamlets. The National Park also includes part of the West Coast, with sandy beaches and rocky tidal pools not to mention the lakes.
Although the Lake District countryside may seem wild, its appearance has been shaped by human activity. People have been farming and the area for at least 10,000 years and in 1951 it was designated as a National Park to protect it for future generations. Having a motorhome gives you the motorhome freedom to go and see what you want. Useful general information is found on cumbria lake district and a guide to walks on lake district.
