Buying Motorhome Fuel
The motorhomes have diesel engines please be careful as most garages have multi-fuel pumps. The diesel fuel pipe is usually black and it is an expensive repair if the wrong fuel is pumped into the tank. Please double check and do not make that mistake.
Where to buy Motorhome fuel?
A good place to fill up your motorhome with fuel is at supermarkets or fuel service stations such as Tesco, BP, Shell, Total, Esso, Texaco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and some Morrisons stores. They have good access as they are often on the outskirts of a town and provide easy parking. Diesel is often cheapest at supermarkets. Diesel prices are not fixed, as in some countries, so price varies between garages. Expect to pay £0.85 to £0.89 per litre for diesel (January 2005 prices). Fuel consumption is around 6 miles per litre.
First time hirers please check that you fill up the motorhome, with the right motorhome fuel. The right motorhome fuel to use will be written next to the fuel cap, please read it before you buy the fuel. If in doubt please ask a member of staff or consult the vehcile manual fuel section.
Please note that in Britain, motorway service stations are occasionally some distance apart, usually they are approximately every 25 miles but occasionally as far as 50 miles apart. Please make sure you have enough diesel to cover your journey.
