Traffic Road Rules

Road signs are usually the standard international traffic road signs. Buy a 'Highway Code' for about £1. This is essential for driving in Britain's roads. Many shops including the ones at airports sell the Highway Code.
Traffic roundabouts are unique to roads in Britain, vehicle traffic coming from the right has priority. You must wait until the roads are safe from traffic before proceeding. You only may overtake other vehicles on the right therby obeying the traffic laws. We strongly recommend you are familiar with the Highway Code and UK traffic rules before you drive on the roads if you are a first time foreign hirer. If you are uncertain, please read the Highway Code to learn more about UK traffic rules.

Make sure that you understand traffic parking restrictions, and what 'double yellow lines' and 'single yellow lines' mean.

Road Traffic Driving Rules

The road speed limits for our motorhomes are not the same as cars. Motorhomes over 3500 kgs have some minor restrictions. 70 mph is the maximum on motorways but on dual carriageways the maximum is restricted to 60 mph and to 50 mph on single carriageways, unless there signs which display specific speed restrictions. Beware there has been an increase in the number of speed camera used on major roads and motorways.

It is the motorhome driver's responsibility to ensure that they obey and follow the road traffic laws of the country they are driving in. As a courtesy to other road drivers: it maybe advisable to plan to pull over and let other road traffic past if you are causing an obstruction when driving down small country roads.
